KIED – Internship Programme


Kerala Institute for Entrepreneurship Development (KIED) is an autonomous State level institute promoted by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Kerala. The main objective of the Institute is to provide services in Human Resources Development (HRD) particularly in the field of entrepreneurship development with a view to enlarge the spirit of entrepreneurship among the people which will lead to more self-employment. Starting up of KIED is a strategic decision that Government of Kerala has taken to strengthen the institutional framework of entrepreneurship education for the state.

We offer internship program for Professionals and Postgraduates which will be an excellent opportunity to gain and improve their experience in sectors like Organizational development and management, Entrepreneurship Development, Skill Development, Business model innovations, Industrial development, Operation and financial management etc. Upon successful completion of the internship, certificate of completion will be provided by KIED.

Who Can Apply?

We offer internship programs to candidates who have completed their professional or postgraduate courses in subjects like Management, Marketing, Engineering, Law, Administration, Human Resource, Tourism studies, Design, Social work, Commerce, Finance, English, etc.


After successful assessment and completion of the internship, certificate of completion will be issued by KIED

Payments and Benefits

This is an unpaid internship. Candidates have to meet the expenses of stay, transport etc. by themselves. No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates for attending the interview. No other facilities such as DA, accommodation, residential phone/conveyance/transport, foreign travel, personal staff, medical reimbursement etc. would be admissible. In the event of death, injury, or illness of the candidate during the term of his/her engagement the candidates or dependents, legal heirs, claimant etc., shall not be entitled to any compensation.

Selection Process:

The selection procedure shall be three-stage: Application Screening, Telephonic Interview and Selection Interview.

An intern’s duties will mainly include:

  • Support office work
  • Market study and analysis
  • Preparing presentations and reports
  • Content writing for webpages, brochure, and publicity materials
  • Marketing promotions and surveys, digital marketing etc.
  • Support services to entrepreneurs and students
  • Various studies, surveys, and reports in the field of entrepreneurships, business incubators, student startups etc.
  • Prepare and study project proposals, business viability, financial modelling etc.
  • Managing, Coordinating and Conducting Training programmes (Internal and External Trainings)
  • Undertake any other duties as per the orders

Period of internship: 

Duration of internship will be initially for 3 months and will be extendable based on the performance.

Working hours: 

The interns have to follow the normal working hours of the Institute. Leave will be given as per the institute rules.


  1. Unauthorized absence from the project/work for a continuous period of 8 days or without any information or valid reason shall lead to automatic termination of the engagement.
  2. KIED can terminate the contract at any time without prior notice and without providing any reason for it. However, in the normal course, the candidate will be given one month’s notice. The candidate can also seek for termination of the internship by giving one month’s notice.

Program Review / Relaxation:

Where KIED is of the opinion that it is necessary or expedient to do so, it may by order and for reasons to be recorded in writing, relax any of the provisions of these guideline/Instruction. KIED also reserves the right to review the program at any time. The program so reviewed will be placed on the website of the KIED

Other Terms and Conditions

  1. Candidate shall be subject to the Laws of the state of Kerala and will need to sign a Declaration and Non-Disclosure Agreement before reporting.
  2. The engagement will not constitute a regular job or appointment of any nature in the office of KIED or in the government.
  3. The candidate shall neither seek nor accept instructions from any authority outside Office in connection with the performance of his/her obligations under the engagement. The candidate shall comply with all laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations bearing upon the performance of his/her obligations under the engagement. During the term of engagement, the candidate shall comply with the Standards of Conduct. Failure to comply with the same will become a ground for termination of the internship without notice.
  4. Decision of the KIED will be final and binding with regard to the internship and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
